Support begins with the individual's own plan, not with a service menu. We read the Individual Support Plan, talk with the person and the people closest to them, and agree what good support actually looks like day to day before anyone starts.
Consistency matters more than almost anything else in this work. Wherever we can, the same Direct Support Professional returns, because trust is built by someone who already knows the routine, the preferences, and the small things that make a day go well. Where a change is unavoidable, we say so in advance rather than sending someone unannounced.
We work alongside Support Coordinators rather than around them, and we review whether the arrangement still fits as circumstances change. If we cannot staff a request reliably, we say so plainly instead of accepting it and hoping.
